SPLITTING THE TARGET CHAMBER Here are a few notes on the correct procedure to split the target chamber. 1. Let the system upto atmospheric pressure in the usual manner by letting gaseous nitrogen through needle valve 4. 2. Disconnect the target ladder motor drive cable from the top of the chamber and also disconnect the turbo pump underneath the chamber. Remove the connections from the pirani and cold cathode gauges and also the two flexible hoses from the chamber. 3. Using two large spanners (exact size unknown) loosen the top bolt followed by the bolt diametrically opposite or in this case the bottom bolt. 4. Repeat for the left and right bolts and then for alternate pairs of opposite bolts. 5. Remove all bolts when all are fully loose. 6. Slowly pull the chamber apart making sure it doesn`t hit the stop too hard. 7. The chamber is now split and ready for processing. 8. To reconnect the chamber together repeat this procedure in reverse but remember to reapply grease to the O-ring.
