First level (ie simple) checks and tests All these information/notes files can be found in /MIDAS/IDS LyrTech Check List ================== Data Statistics Open window from button at the bottom of the Experiment Control window. Look at rate for SYNC button When Block Index = 0 (sum of all modules) this rate should be approx 4500 (may be reduced at very high data rates) Block Index => ADC module 1 etc Now the counters and rates refer to just this module If any module shows a SYNC Data rate = 0 there is a PROBLEM When problem solving switch off TS Transfer Enabled STOP and GO if this does not recover all the modules Try terminating the data acq program (close RTDEXV4 window). Double click on the RTDEXV4 icon. Go to the Experiment Control window SETUP and GO in the usual way. Now check the statistics. If you see the message in the RTDEXV4 " ...... Error 31 ...." then there is a serious data readout timeout and probably you will have to power cycle the LyrTech crate When you GO (and also whenever you Clear the statistics) you will get a number of debug lines in the RTDEXV4 window. If any of these STARTS n> 0xffffffff then there is a hardware readout error - again try power cycle of the LyrTech crate. When you have cured the problem remember to switch TS Transfer Enabled On Merge Check List ================ Click on Refresh See state summary at the top of the window. The Merge can get into problems if the current time stamp is reset because it is then searching for something else. The quickest way to attempt recovery is to restart the program because it is quick and the rest of the system should recover. Just double click on the Merge icon (3rd MIDAS icon from right) in the top taskbar. Click on Refresh in the Merge GUI window. Now Merge State = unknown Click on configure & setup Click on GO This should immediately start reading data from the LyrTech links and sending merged data to the Tapeserver (if enabled) Hint ---- To stop data to disc - set Merge Data Transfer State => Off To resume data to disc - set Merge Data Transfer State => On Tape Drive Control (Disc Storage) =================================== click redisplay to update statistics (Tape written is always 0) Experiment Name is not used (for GANIL) To start a new file on disc --------------------------- If state is currently GO (Golden) click on STOP Run Number increments Then click on GO. You resume writting data to the new file.
